Vasa Order of America National Archives Inc
The Vasa Archives are designed to preserve the Swedish culture in America and Canada. Visitors can utilize the Archives to complete genealogical research. Assistance is available for members and nonmembers in North America and Sweden who are interested in genealogical research. You will also find a collection of several hundred audio interviews of Swedish immigrants conducted by Lennart Setterdahl. Your visit is quite welcome. Space for meetings and special events is available to rent.
Bishop Hill was chosen as the site for the Vasa National Archives because of its historic value to the “Great Immigration” of Swedes to America. It is the home of the Vasa Order and properly valued and funded will become the legacy of the Order. The purpose, as described in the Incorporation Document, is for "Educational, historical and research to preserve and display and make available records, documents, works of art, science, inventions and manufacture by persons of Swedish ancestry and to promote public knowledge of an interest in the history of persons of Scandinavian and particularly Swedish ancestry."
